November 2021 marks the 110th anniversary of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus. In 1911 Sir Dan Godfrey founded the Bournemouth Municipal Choir to work alongside his orchestra, since then the choir has grown from strength to strength and continued singing glorious symphonic choral music through two world wars and two pandemics!
This concert, on the eve of Remembrance Sunday, includes the popular and moving The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins plus one of the truly great choral works by Bournemouth born C Hubert H Parry, Blest Pair of Sirens. The choir has enjoyed an inspiring 30-year association with Christopher Dowie and is honoured to be performing one of his compositions, O Lux Beata Trinitas.
The choir will also be giving the première performance of a new work composed specially for the 110th Anniversary by Gavin Carr, the Chorus Director.
